Cary Brobeck
If you’re reading this bio you saw my picture and thought to yourself, who is this sexy biker guy. Or, you just wanted a good laugh and wanted to feel better about yourself. My name is Cary Brobeck, I am a 38 year old middle class part-time biker. I say part-time because I am trying to balance a wife, 3 kids, a dog and of course building and riding motorcycles. As if that wasn’t enough to fill my days with shit to do, I decided to start Hopper Mag with a few friends.
Hopper started out as a discussion sitting around the kitchen table with some friends and talking about the redundancy of “biker mags” just showing bike after bike, part after part, and tough biker after tough biker. We wanted to show a little of the who, where, and why of this biker thing. I’ve always wanted to know more about the guy in the Midwest who’s riding around on some killer Panhead. Where does he ride to, who does he ride with, that sort of stuff.
I have been around bikes for most of my life. My mom was married a couple of times and both my step-dads were what I consider bikers. My step-dad now has been riding the same rigid, kick only Pan-shovel for 38 years. You’d think I’d be some sort of a bad ass coming from a 1%er family, but that’s not the case at all. I just do my own thing, besides I still get a kick out of unicorn belt buckles and rainbow puppy shirts.
Since getting into this whole chopper thing I have been fortunate to surround myself with some really solid people who are willing to help and teach. I am by no means a “bike builder”, but I like to build bikes. I am very grateful for all of my friends who lend a hand when needed, especially all the Douche Larouche MC (long story) old and new members. If it wasn’t for them, I’d probably be riding around on a stock Dyna, and not a 58 Pan.
